108 out of 125 9th graders (86%) achieved college readiness reading scores
(See "Teacher Comments" by Pamela Reyes Buentello for details.)“Raymond Gerson’s training was filled with practical, easy to understand, easy to implement strategies for increasing student success. These strategies could be taught in a separate course, or incorporated into the existing curriculum. This makes the course even more appealing, because of the flexibility. The participants from my region were very enthusiastic about implementing the strategies in their high schools, some as early as 9th grade. They really appreciated having the complete package they needed to get started: the student book, teacher book, and lesson plans. Every high school student should be required to take this course. I recommend this training to every high school principal and high school counselor!”

Educators: Help students succeed in school, career and life
Options after you take the training:• Teach these success strategies in your high school or college courses
• Present workshops to students and/or parents
• Coach students one-on-one
• Train other teachers/educators
• You can use these ideas as part of your own business
Value of this trainingMany research studies have indicated that students need to be taught non-cognitive skills and higher level thinking to succeed in college and in the 21st century workforce. Non-cognitive skills include goal setting skills, time management, interpersonal skills and personal strengths such as self-discipline and self-responsibility. Higher level thinking includes critical and creative thinking and the ability to transfer and apply knowledge.
I am an adjunct professor for Austin Community College (ACC) and I teach these skills (using two of my books) to both at-risk and college-ready students. I also train educators to teach these ideas to high school and college students. Teaching students to learn effectively and to discover their career purpose is a powerful and motivational combination for school, career and life success.
“ I have been using your book with my students. This book is life-changing. It not only teaches school success, but also life success.”
Kelly Holland Teacher, Irion County, ISD
TrainingsTrainings One is a half-day training on career readiness and the other is a half-day training on both college and career readiness. Most of the activities are similar to activities in my college and career readiness/success textbooks. The training provides educators with a sampling of interactive activities so that they can experience and see how I taught my students in my college and career readiness/success courses. The training can be offered in-person or live online with groups of educators. To see the brochures go to "Training Brochures" which is a side button. I am the author of the Achieve College Success and Achieve Career Success textbook series. There are two brief editions for half-semester courses and two full editions for full semester courses. Instructor materials are also available for adopters who will be using the books with their students. All four of these textbooks are now free Open Educational Resources (OERs). They are available at: https://www.upbeatpress.com
